Melatonin: Hormone That Tells You When to Sleep
Melatonin is one among the several natural hormones. The pineal gland located within the brain of a human body secretes ‘melatonin hormone’. The “pineal gland” is almost equal to the size of a pea. To be very precise, it is exactly located just above the middle of the brain.
Pineal Gland, Light, and Melatonin
The pineal gland acts like the internal clock of the human body specifically the brains. This internal clock is responsible for commanding the brain that it is time to go to the bed or when to sleep.
Secretion of the melatonin hormone is directly related to the sunlight. As soon as the sun goes down the brain or the pineal gland starts secreting this hormone. Experts say that the level of melatonin hormone in the body is directly related to the “sleep-wake-cycle” of the human body.
Release of melatonin in human body is inhibited by the presence of bright light. Because of this characteristic of the melatonin hormone, it is often termed as the “Dracula of Hormones” that only surfaces in nights.
Secretion of the melatonin hormone by the pineal gland will only be possible when a person comes in the ‘dimly- lit environment’. Even the street lights or any type of artificial lights would affect negatively on the secretion of melatonin hormone from the pineal gland.
Dietary Supplements of Melatonin Hormone
Some of the common food items that are known as rich source of melatonin hormone are primary source of dietary supplements. This is why the U.S. Dietary Supplement Health and Education Act of 1984 has permitted open sale of such food products as dietary supplement of melatonin hormone. Such dietary supplements have been exempted from approval by the FDA and can be sold directly in the open markets.
Synthetic Melatonin
Melatonin can be manufactured synthetically also but such manufacturing is not regulated by the FDA. Doses listed with such synthetic melatonin are highly probable to be inaccurate as well. In majority of the commercially produced synthetic melatonin doses the amount and percentage of melatonin could be higher than the amount of melatonin produced by human body in a natural way. The blood melatonin levels could elevate even up to 20 times than the normal with the intake of such a synthetic melatonin dose of 1-3 mgs.
Plant Derived Melatonin
Melatonin derived from various plant resources have been found to be more effective compared to the synthetic melatonin produced commercially. Physiological doses of plant derived melatonin are more natural and acceptable to the human body. Such doses are not required to be more in numbers as well.
Natural melatonin also prevents its level to rise abnormally in the human body.

You are welcome.
Dietary supplements are the usual way to go about this. There is compelling evidence that certain dietary factors stimulate the release of HGH into the circulation, and there is little doubt that these moderate and regulated releases can have benefits for health.

Most scientists won’t waste their time and effort on the paranormal simply because they think it’s worthless and useless. Someone would have to a minimum of want to believe in it to spend their time inventing equipment to prove it’s true. Guess it’s left to us amateurs since the scientists will not help us.
