San Diego-based ResMed, a maker of sleep breathing devices, said Oct. 5 it has acquired a French company specializing in nighttime dental repositioning devices.

Based in Lyon, France, Laboratoires Narval markets a device known as O.R.M. for sleep disorders.

Michael Farrell, senior vice president of ResMed’s sleep business unit, said the acquisition allows the company to provide an alternative solution for patients with mild obstructive sleep apnea and snoring.

“Obstructive sleep apnea is a serious disease that, left untreated, can have significant long-term impacts on the cardiovascular system, as well as impacts on other serious and chronic health issues,” he said.
