New Sleep Center Opening At Brooklyn

New York Harbor Healthcare System, Brooklyn campus, will officially open its state-of-the-art Sleep Center on Monday, Sept. 27, at 10 a.m.

Veterans of all ages can now be diagnosed and treated at VA for a wide variety of sleep disorders including obstructive sleep apnea, restless leg syndrome, central sleep apnea syndromes, narcolepsy, as well as sleep problems associated with traumatic brain injury.

Continucare Corporation has geared up its expansion campaign in to the sleep disorder treatment domain and acquired United Sleep Diagnostics.

The deal gives Seredor Corp., a subsidiary of the Miami-based company , three stand-alone testing facilities and six sleep centers at South Florida hospitals. United Sleep Diagnostics’ website lists locations in Pembroke Pines, Hollywood, Hialeah, Boynton Beach, Boca Raton and Fort Lauderdale. Read the rest of this entry

A New Sleep Clinic At Prince Edward Island Soon

Prince Edward Island is planning to develop a sleep clinic as part of the new ambulatory care centre at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Charlottetown in order to enhance services for people suffering from sleep disorders.

The province is overdue for a sleep clinic as about 10 per cent of his patients suffer from sleep disorders, though many do not know it.

Fundraiser Helps New Sleep Study Center

Glenn County’s biggest fundraiser of the year attracted more than 300 people and raised money for a new sleep study center slated for Glenn Medical Center.

Money from the seventh annual Splendor in the Valley, presented by the Glenn Medical Foundation, will go toward equipment, beds and other needs in a sleep study clinic that should open shortly after the first of the year, according to officials.

Graymark Healthcare Will Focus Sleep Apnea Business

Graymark Healthcare Inc has entered in to an agreement with Walgreen Co to acquire substantially all of the assets of ApothecaryRx, the independent pharmacy division of Graymark Healthcare.

“The divestiture of our pharmacy division will allow us to put full focus on our sleep apnea business and to continue to grow that segment both organically and through acquisitions,” said Stanton Nelson, chairman and CEO of Graymark Healthcare. “Rapid growth in the sleep segment, strong margins, and the lack of a definitive market leader in the sleep apnea space make this a very desirable area for our focus and investment.”

The transaction is subject to customary regulatory conditions and would include all 18 ApothecaryRx stores located in five states. The parties anticipate that the transaction will close in the fourth quarter of calendar year 2010
